On June 20th and 21st, 2011, The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) hosted Democracy that Delivers for Women, an international conference on women’s empowerment around the world. Ambassador Richard Holwill moderated this session on economic empowerment with Gayle Tzemach Lemmon, author of the Dressmaker of Khair Khana; Mary Schnack, National Partner at Women Impacting Public Policy; and Selima Ahmad, President and Founder of the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Democracy that Delivers for Women explored key aspects of women’s political and economic participation, as well as how these themes are interrelated throughout other aspects of women’s empowerment.
