You need to contact government agencies in your area. Many now have websites where they list their contracts currently up for bid.
There are City, County, State and Federal agencies. Even within a city, there may be many purchasing sections in different departments, and each may have its own contracts and purchasing section.
But women owned businesses do minority owned businesses do get some preference, especially in bigger cities, and in more progressive states such as California.
For example in Los Angeles there are about 30 different city departments, and they each do their own purchasing.
Start in your local phone book. Ask to speak with someone in Purchasing at each number you call.
You need to speak with the local Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). If you can’t find them, contact the Small Business Development Center, and they can tell you how. PTAC helps small companies find government contracts.
