On June 20th and 21st, 2011, The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) hosted Democracy that Delivers for Women, an international conference on women’s empowerment around the world. Dr. Suzanne Garment moderated this session about donor approaches to women’s empowerment with Dr. Virginia M. Seitz, Senior Director for Social and Gender Assessment at the Millennium Challenge Corporation; Shelly Porges, Senior Advisor of the Global Women’s Business Initiative at the US Department of State; and Shari Berenbach, Director of the Microenterprise Office at the US Agency for International Development. Democracy that Delivers for Women explored key aspects of women’s political and economic participation, as well as how these themes are interrelated throughout other aspects of women’s empowerment. www.bbc.co.uk The first of two provocative programmes presented by newsreader and mum-of-three Sophie Raworth, and reporter and father-of-three Justin Rowlatt. Especially women in male dominated fields, how do you continue to do well at work and still manage to raise a happy family?
